Minister of Foreign Affairs: Our visit to the Vatican comes in appreciation and in follow up on the outcomes of His Holiness’s visit to Iraq and to translate these outcomes into projects.

Foreign Minister, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein met with the President of the Association of the Christian Pilgrimage Foundation at the Vatican Opera Romana.
At the outset of the meeting, the president of the association said that the Iraqi city of Ur represents the Prophet Abraham and he is for all mankind and our roots are there, and the pilgrimage to Ur will make us feel that we are sons of the One God, thus; we all represent the heavenly religions.



Foreign Minister Receives Phone Call from his Belgian Counterpart

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein, received a phone call from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium, H.E. Mrs. Sophie Wilmès,

Mr. Hussien congratulated his counterpart on the occasion of assuming her position as Minister of Foreign Affairs, wishing her success in fulfilling her duties.

The two sides discussed the necessity of strengthening bilateral relations and elevating them to what meets the aspirations of the two friendly peoples.



Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets President of the Italian Parliament and Delivers Invitation to Visit Iraq from his Iraqi Counterpart

On 3 May 2012, Foreign Minister, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein met with the Italian President of the Parliament, Mr. Roberto Fico in the Italian capital, Rome.

The meeting emphasized the importance of advancing bilateral relations in a way that achieves the interests of both countries.



Foreign Minister Meets Italian Counterpart in Rome and Discusses Exchanging Support in Various Fields

In 2 May 2021, Foreign Minister, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein met with Italian Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Luigi Di Maio, in the Italian capital, Rome.

During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between Baghdad and Rome, and ways to consolidate them in the framework of strengthening joint cooperation between the two countries, and work to activate the Iraqi-Italian joint committee in a way that contributes to achieving the interests of the two friendly countries.

Foreign Minister of Iraq, Mr. Fuad Hussein Gives Briefing at the NATO Meeting

On 11 March 2021, H.E. Mr. Hussein held a virtual video conference with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), in which he talked about the cooperation between Iraq and NATO and the latter’s training mission in Iraq.

For his part, Mr. Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary-General, focused on discussions of the long-standing political and military dialogue between NATO and Iraqi officials, including his regular contacts with the Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Mustafa Al-Kadhimi and Foreign Minister Mr. Hussein.

The Foreign Minister Gives Iraq’s Speech at the High-level Session of the Conference on Disarmament

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein delivered the speech of Iraq at the high-level session of the Conference on Disarmament, which was held virtually on 22/2/2021, in which he affirmed the Iraqi government’s adherence to disarmament and non-proliferation agreements and treaties, believing that universal accession to international agreements related to weapons of mass destruction and universal compliance with them without discrimination, and the elimination of these weapons is one of the main pillars that promote global peace and stability, noting that the spread of the Corona virus pandemic and its repercussions on various fields, reaffirms the importance of concerted action and efforts to address common challenges and threats.



Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein Meets with his Bahraini Counterpart, and Affirms that Exiting Conflict Requires More Coordination

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with his counterpart Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Mr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani and discussed with him the bilateral relations and the importance of mutual support at all levels.

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein arrived in the Egyptian capital Cairo on 6/2/2021 to attend the emergency ministerial meeting of the Arab League, which was called by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Arab Republic of Egypt to discuss developments in the region, and how to deal with the new administration’s policy in Washington, as well as studying and addressing some issues related to the structure and functioning of the League of Arab States.
