



H.E. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Fuad Hussein, met on Thursday, 1 October 2026, with a number of prominent journalists and representatives of U.S. media outlets, during a dialogue session hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington, D.C.
The session addressed a number of political and diplomatic issues of common interest, foremost among them Iraqi-American relations, regional and international developments, Iraq’s position on the issues and crises affecting the region, as well as the priorities of Iraqi foreign policy at the present stage.
The session featured an extensive discussion of a number of issues of interest to U.S. media circles, Iraq’s role in supporting dialogue processes and enhancing security and stability in the region, as well as prospects for developing Iraqi-American relations and expanding areas of cooperation between the two countries across various fields.
The Minister responded to the journalists’ questions and inquiries, outlining Iraq’s vision and positions on the issues discussed and highlighting the orientations of Iraqi foreign policy, stressing the importance of direct communication with U.S. media outlets, in a manner that contributes to clarifying Iraq’s positions and enhancing understanding of the nature of the challenges facing the region and the efforts being made to address them through diplomatic means and dialogue.
The session comes as part of a series of meetings and dialogues held by Mr Fuad Hussein with media institutions, think tanks and research centres in the United States, aimed at presenting the orientations of Iraqi foreign policy, exchanging views on regional and international issues, and strengthening communication with U.S. political, media and academic circles.
