On Sunday, June 27, 2021, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Barham Salih laid out an opulent state banquet welcome for Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Jordan’s King Abdullah's visit to Baghdad and where the visit is a major support for Iraq and its people.
In addition to President of the Republic of Iraq, Barham Salih, Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi, the Speaker of Parliament Mohammed al-Halbouosi and the Head of the Supreme Judicial Council, Chief Justice Faiq Zidan also attended the opulent state banquet.
During the luncheon, President Salih said that it is a very important event so we, as the Iraqi, are gathered here today to welcome the two precious guests of Iraq Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Jordan’s King Abdullah. He emphasized how important it was to strengthen the relations that linked Iraq, Egypt and Jordan together, and support the efforts that were made to enhance our mutual ties in a way that would most benefit our countries' citizens and the state of the region as well.
Iraqi, Egyptian and Jordanian cooperation is a historical turning point towards prospects for peace and development in the region that witnessed tensions, crises and conflicts for a very long time, President Salih said, so it is a staging point for bringing security and stability as well as promoting further economic cooperation.
Our cooperation will help us to hold further dialogue, and where all the problems could be resolved, and the common challenges presented by the terrorism and extremism that the world faced could be addressed, he added.
Moreover, it boosts economic and trade partnership, and provides job opportunities for our peoples, the President asserted.
The Iraqi President spoke about the importance of strengthening the level of cooperation and coordination between Iraq, Egypt and Jordan so we can take advantage of geographical correlation in creating wider prospects for further cooperation in fields of economy, trade and development.
This includes building infrastructure projects as well as supporting energy transportation and oil pipelines projects, he said, while efforts aiming to address the current challenges presented by the terrorism and extremism, COVID-19 and climate change should be sustained. he highlighted the need to protect the environment.
Meeting Participants, they do believe that it is useful to continue regular meetings for coordinating positions as well as promoting tripartite cooperation.
A secure, stable and sovereign Iraq having balanced relations with the Arab States and the Islamic neighboring States with restoring its pivotal role, is a matter of critical issue in building security, stability and development in the region, the President affirmed.
However, he underlined that there is a need for having tripartite coordination which would help to defuse tensions, promote regional stability and find a way to de-escalate the ongoing crises.
