Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani welcomed a delegation from the American company Baker Hughes at his residence in Washington, D.C., early Thursday morning (Baghdad time).
During the meeting, they discussed the company`s operations in Iraq in the oil and gas sectors. The Prime Minister stressed that gas projects are a priority for the government to meet the needs of power stations and to stop the environmental damage caused by gas flaring. He encouraged the company to contribute to establishing a chemical plant for materials used in drilling and oil extraction processes.
The Baker Hughes delegation expressed their readiness to enhance cooperation with the Iraqi government and the private sector, including implementing smart solutions in the development and maintenance of oil and gas fields.
The Iraqi private sector representatives signed a memorandum of understanding with Baker Hughes in Washington, focusing on using smart solutions to stop gas flaring and develop and maintain oil fields.
