Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Mr. Jan Kubis the former Special Representative of the Secretary-General for the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) in Iraq.
Minister Alhakim stressed the importance of the United Nations active role in supporting and assisting Iraq in various political, security and humanitarian field, stating that the United Nations is the umbrella responsible for the protection and support of the people of the world.
Minister Alhakim commended the efforts of UNAMI and its outstanding role in supporting Iraq to meet the challenges it faces, pointing out that the Foreign Ministry continues to provide all facilities for the success of the work of the United Nations Mission in Iraq, and utilizes efforts and energies to provide support, and contribute to maintaining security and stability.
Minister Alhakim stressed the need for the international community to join efforts to support Iraq in the reconstruction phase.
