Foreign Minister Appreciates Canada’s Stances in Support of Iraq

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein discussed with the Canadian Foreign Minister Mr. Francois Philip the ways for promoting cooperation between the two countries in various fields, and expressed his appreciation for Canada’s stances in support of Iraq and bilateral cooperation in various fields.

The Minister touched on the initial decision taken by the US administration to withdraw its embassy from Baghdad, stressing that the Iraqi government has taken strict measures to protect and secure diplomatic missions operating in Iraq, and reviewed the results of his recent visit to Tehran.

This came in a phone call between Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, with Canadian Foreign Minister Mr. Francois Philippe on Friday evening 02/10/2020.

Mr. Philip expressed his support for the government and people of Iraq in facing various challenges, stressing that his country stood by the Iraqis in the war against Da’esh terrorist organization and stands with them in stabilizing and building the economy, and preserving sovereignty.
