According to the International Monetary Fund, Iraq is considered to be one of the world’s top ten fastest growing economies. Emaar Properties, a Dubai based company, is taking advantage of the rapid growth Iraq is experiencing and recently announced its plans to build a multi-billion dollar development project in the city of Erbil. Emaar is best known for its previous construction project in Dubai, the Burj Khalifa.
The company plans to build a mini-city in the center of Erbil, comprised of housing developments, a business district, a shopping mall, as well as educational and healthcare centers. Plans also call for the construction of three major hotels. The project is expected to create close to 45,000 jobs.
