PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC DISCUSSES WITH KUWAIT'S AMIR THE TIES AND THE SITUATIONS IN THE REGION

H.E. President Dr. Barham Salih stressed that the relations between Iraq and Kuwait have made significant strides due to the wisdom and the desire of the leaderships of the two countries to overcome the legacy of the past.
At the official discussion that was held, at the Presidential Office in Baghdad on Wednesday's today June 19 2019, with His Highness the Kuwait's Amir the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Excellency President Salih indicated that Iraq has a serious desire to build advanced ties with its neighbors, especially with Kuwait in manner that serves the common interests of the two brotherly peoples.
His Excellency the President added that, Iraq is looking to the natural of the ongoing crisis in the region in a broad outlook, and seeks to achieve a comprehensive regional agreement, based on the dialogue and good neighborly among the countries.
His Excellency President Salih welcomed His Highness the Amir the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the delegation accompanying him, wishing the Amir's visit will be a good chance to let bygones be bygones and embark a page of constructive relations between the two brotherly neighbors.
On his side, His Highness Kuwait's Amir, indicated his country's desire to support and enable Iraq to overcome the repercussions of the terrorist acts and rebuild the country, expressing that the visit is a chance to discuss the ways of enhancing and developing the cooperation between the two countries and resolve the outstanding files between them as it comes to boost the close relations, emphasizing that Kuwait firmly believes on the need that Iraq should have security and stability.
The recent political developments in the region and the attempts of mitigating them to achieve stability in the region as well as Kuwait's contributing in the Iraq reconstruction processes and the relations between the both countries and the ways of upgrading these relations to meet the two fraternal peoples' aspirations were also discussed.
At the same context, a luncheon was offered by His Excellency the President of the Republic in the honor of the Kuwaiti Amir and the delegation accompanying him. It was attended by PM Adel Abdul Mahdi and The Speaker of the Council of the Representatives Mohammed Al-Halbousi.
