The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington, D.C. repatriated three pieces of antiquity artifacts that were previously in possession of a U.S. citizen.
The cultural items, which are understood to have been unlawfully collected were repatriated through the coordination of the Embassy and the citizen.
Ambassador Lukman Faily thanked the U.S. citizen for his cooperation and goodwill action of handing back these archaeological and precious items to its home country. Further, the Ambassador called for others to follow suit to preserve and protect Iraq’s cultural heritage, as it is not only important for Iraq but for all nations as a heritage that belongs to all of mankind.
