Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim received a phone call from the new British Foreign Secretary Mr. Dominic Raab.
Mr. Alhakim congratulated him on the occasion of his appointment as UK Foreign Secretary.
The two ministers discussed ways of enhancing cooperation in various fields, especially security and intelligence coordination and efforts to combat terrorism, and serve common interests Of the two friendly countries.

His Excellency Foreign Minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari, represented Iraq at the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received Mr. Karim Khan the Special Adviser and Head of the United Nations Investigation Team for the accountability for crimes committed by Da’esh.

During the meeting, a number of issues were discussed including, exchanging views on ways to enhance joint cooperation, maintaining contact with the adviser and his team in light of respect for Iraqi sovereignty, and the competence of the Iraqi judiciary to collect evidence to contribute to accountability of those involved, and to uncover and document the crimes of Da’esh.

Foreign Ministry organized a celebration on the occasion of International Women's Day with the participation of Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim attended by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ms. Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, members of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, and representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations.

The Foreign Ministry summoned the US Ambassador to Baghdad Mr. Matthew Tueller who met the senior Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Mr. Abdul Karim Hashim Mustafa on the background of the air strikes on the Iraqi forces in Qaim which resulted in casualties between martyr and wounded, as well as an air strike on Iraqi military high-level leaders and friend targeted with their escorts in the Iraqi territories, which resulted in the martyrdom of the deputy head of the Popular Mobilization Commission , the martyr Mr. Jamal Jaafar Muhammad (Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis), along with Iraqi martyrs and... The Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Fuad Hussain has discussed the developments of situations in the region, such as the security situation in the Gulf region and Yemen and the danger of escalation and deepening crises, Mr. Hussain confirmed that the stability of the region means the stability of Iraq, Therefore “we are ready to do our best and to work with the countries of the region to stop violence”. The Iraqi ministry of foreign affairs commenced its annual preparations for the Arbainya ceremony (to commemorate the death of Imam Hussein) in the city of Karbala by opening 16 extra consulate offices all over Iran’s provinces (Ailam, Sosnkurd, Abadan, Karman, Sari, Yazid, Karaj, Tabriz, Rashit, Qum, Shiraz and Asfahan) and supplied them with specialized employees with consulate procedures from the ministry to accelerate issuing visas for pilgrims, where more than 2 million visas were issued for Iranian pilgrims last year during the Arbainya visit, and it is expected to have 3 million... Iraq expresses its strong condemnation of the terrorist incident suffered by our brothers in the Arab Republic of Egypt, which claimed the lives of civilians and injured others.

While Iraq affirms its rejection of terrorism in all its forms , it stands with the international community in the face of terrorism, supports all good efforts aimed at eliminating extremism and violence, in addition to supporting the efforts of the Egyptian government in its actions to maintain security and stability of the country.
