President Barham Salih received General Joseph Votel the Commander of the US Central Command and his accompanying delegation, at the Presidential Office in Baghdad on Sunday, February 17, 2019
His Excellency highlighted the importance of developing security and military cooperation between the two friendly countries as well as the US contribution to arming and improving the military capabilities of the Iraqi security forces.

The government has taken promising actions recently in Iraq to activate the coordination at the ministerial level with respect to GCC electric interconnection project so as to achieve technical stability in Iraqi electricity network & exchanging power supply.

President Salih received today at the Presidential Office in Baghdad the Special Representative of the Secretary –General of the United Nations for Iraq Ms. Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert.

On August 19, we recall the painful blast that targeted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in Baghdad. This anniversary reaffirms our unity in confronting terrorism and extremism. We work resolutely to build a secure and prosperous future for Iraq and its people; we call for the promotion of peace and stability at both national and international levels.

The Foreign Ministry affirms Iraq's keenness on the security of its neighbors and its refusal to use its territory to threaten the security of those countries. It rejects the violation of Iraqi sovereignty by bombing any target within Iraqi territory without prior coordination with the Iraqi authorities to spare civilians the effects of such operations.

The President emphasized that the strategic partnership with the United States of America is essential for Iraq as the country is committed to its balanced policy that builds bridges of friendship and cooperation with all friends and neighbors, including Iran.
President Salih asserted Iraq's keenness to develop bilateral relations between the two countries and with the rest of brotherly and friendly countries in various fields.

تتابع السفارة عن كثب موضوع قيام السلطات الامريكية باعتقال عدد من أبناء الجالية العراقية الكريمة ممن صدرت بحقهم أوامر من القضاء الأمريكي لغرض الترحيل من أراضي الولايات المتحدة.
نوّد البيان أن هذه الاجراءات هي شأن داخلي وسيادي لحكومة الولايات المتحدة. وفي الوقت الذي تسعى السفارة إلى التخفيف من حدة هذه الاجراءات من خلال التواصل مع السلطات الامريكية المعنية، ننصح أبناء الجالية المشمولين بهذه القرارات بضرورة اللجوء إلى السلطات القضائية للنظر في إمكانية إبطال قرارات الترحيل الصادرة بحقهم.
